Community Development

Transformational Community Development

Actions of Compassion

Our Involvement in social work is slightly different than other people. We believe in empowering the community for their transformation. That's why we call our social work initiative as Transformational Community Development. In this we address five important areas of the community. They are - water, food, education, income generation and wellness.

Water

Enough clean water for drinking, cooking and hand washing

Food

Sufficient nutritious food to mitigate chronic hunger and malnutrition

Wellness

Training in critical sanitation, disease-prevention, and safe living measures

Income

Startup resources for dignified and sustainable family income generation

Education

Access to primary level education for every girl and boy

Process for TCD

First of all, we select a village and do a survey. If the village is suitable, then we organize a program called seed project. This is done in order to build relationship with the villager. Once we have good relationship with the villagers, we form a committee of 5 to 7 people from the community. After forming the committee, we gave them a training. This training would help them to understand the importance of TCD. This training also will help them identify the problem they have within the community and help them identify the solution of those problems.

Meanwhile, we also asked the committee to appointment one TCD volunteer for every 10 houses. Once the volunteers are select, they also go through a training. Once they understand their role, once in a week they are given training to address specific need/problem which they in turn will give training to the families.

Our desire is to stay three years with the community to help them solve their own problems. By the time we leave the village, the villages are well-equipped to find a problem and come up with local solution.
